B1 SELT- Approved English Language for British Citizenship

For British citizenship, you need to pass a Secure English Language Test (SELT) in at least CEFR level B1 in Speaking and Listening. By having a recognised B1 English test qualification from an approved test centre, you can prove your knowledge of English.

It is mandatory for every applicant applying for ILR or British Citizenship to have certification in the B1 level English test with a Life in UK certificate. There are two phases in the B1 English test and each phase is for up to 5 minutes. Every phase has the discussion on the topic selected by the learners from the given option whereas the second phase tests the candidates on the conversation on different subject areas selected by the examiner.

The passing percentage marks of this examination is 75%. If you could be asked 100 questions, then out these 100 you need to answer 75 questions correct. If you have answered more than 26 questions wrong, then you will be considered a failed candidate.

To prepare and apply for the B1 Exam, you need to get training from a certified and authorized English Language test preparation training provider that is valid in the eyes of UK law.

We, at Bright Learning, will help you overcome this problem. We are a professional B1 English Test training provider in Leicester. We will give you suitable English training materials which will be having similar types of questions, which will be asked in the actual test.

Before you take the ESOL British citizenship test ensure that you understand and read all the topics in the study guide.

Some recognised test qualifications only last for 2 years. You can still use a B1 level qualification that you took more than 2 years ago in 2 situations.
